Protecting our Constitution
Protecting our Constitution is one of Congress’ primary obligations, and each and every congressman and senator signs and swears to an oath to do so, just as our President does when he assumes office. But still, our Constitution remains under continual assault by many of those very same elected officials. Some call it outdated, some assume it’s open to interpretation and change by fiat, while others just choose to ignore it. Shamefully complicit in their actions is most of the mainstream American media.
It’s nothing new though. Those of us who grew up under the direct influence of The Greatest Generation know what I’m going to say has significance. Our parents knew all too well what it was to sacrifice for the well being of others, for the well being of our family, for our nation, for the security of our Constitution. We were taught respect, because they were respectful. They respected other people. They respected the rights of others, they respected authority, they respected the law, they respected honesty, they respected the sacrifices made by those who served to protect our freedom, liberties and way of life. They respected our Constitution because they were taught that it was our Constitution that allowed us to live as free people.
It’s nothing new though because now, a growing percentage of our population has developed under the impression that none of that matters anymore. We’ve tolerated descendant generations that now disrespect most everything our parents stood for. They don’t understand the cost of freedom, or even appreciate its value. There’s no admiration of those who sacrifice. Honesty, rule of law, authority, respect. All old-fashioned and antiquated thought. And that reflects in the ethical values of those being elected to represent us in congress. God forbid that any one of the Democrats currently running for the party’s nomination for President should win.
But, all is not lost. It’s not too late to learn, preach, and teach the true version of our history. Too many voting age Americans don’t know it or why it’s so important. I’m not talking about a religious or cult like indoctrination. I’m talking about learning the truth of our American History. The Declaration of Independence. The Constitution of the United States of America. The importance of preserving it and restoring the rule of law. Learn why it’s so important to maintain the fundamental traditions of our governmental structure and preserve our sovereignty.
Congress today is controlled by self-serving ideologs insubordinate to the Constitution they are sworn to protect. Maybe because they just don’t know any better. Maybe because they enjoy the power of self-enrichment. Or maybe their ideology differs from the legislative practices that ensure our freedom and way of life.
Some are way too anxious to denigrate our Constitution. Astonishingly, in a vote taken in 2013, forty-six of our United States Senators were willing to give away some of our Constitutional rights afforded us in the Bill of Rights, to the United Nations. ALL were either Democrat or “Independent.” Only a few weeks ago, the Democrat majority House of Representatives voted to enact wide sweeping measures that would destroy many of the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today.
We even have self-identifying Socialists among the ranks of congress.
Luckily, congress faces re-election every two years. So, It is vitally important that we preserve our Constitutionally mandated voting procedures assuring that only American citizens can vote, and that we send only Constitutional observing politicians to Washington to represent and preserve the American way of life.
Please, learn about our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and our Declaration of Independence. All are available to read and study at ThisGreatCountry.com. Share it with your children and grandchildren. Let’s be sure we pass-on to our youngest generation, a truly FREE America.
